Business support and advice

The Growth Delivery Team at Newark and Sherwood District Council are committed to support existing businesses located within the district, and businesses that are thinking of investing in Newark and Sherwood by providing continual encouragement, advice and support at every stage of their development.

As a team we work very closely with our local partners including Business Link who manage a ‘Growth and Improvement Service’ for existing businesses and ‘My New Business’ for business start-ups; NBV (Newark Business Venture), HMRC (Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs) and Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce to provide a wide range of high quality business services to help local businesses to develop and grow as well as encouraging new investment into the district.

The aim of the Growth Delivery Team is to support business growth and to increase employment and investment by:

  • Supporting local businesses
  • Attracting new growth businesses into the District
  • Creating and safeguarding jobs for District residents
  • Up skilling and training the Districts workforce alongside delivery partners

We can offer a gateway to a variety of support, including:

  • Investment – Bespoke Information can be provided on the local area, workforce, housing, education, land and property, business sectors and other location based information.
  • Business Support – the team can help through a sign posting service to provide support information - grant assistance, business support advice for start up and existing businesses.
  • Free land and property search – the team can conduct a free property search on your behalf and provide details on suitable business premises for you to consider.
  • Employment and Skills – the team can sign post businesses and individuals to organisations that can support their employment and skills needs.

Registration of CCTV Cameras

There is a legal requirement for organisations that process and collect CCTV images, under the Data Protection Act, to register their premises with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Most organisations and businesses will be required to pay an annual notification fee of £35 and provide details about the types of personal information they process.
