Silverlink

What is Silverlinks?

Silverlinks aim to equip older people with the knowledge they need to enable them to reach their own decisions about their housing and care needs, and provide information about where to go for specific advice and support if they need it.

This is done in two main ways

  1. Peer to Peer support

Silverlinks aims to support older people when they are facing difficult and sometimes life changing decisions about their housing and care needs for future life. We have a team of volunteers to offer peer to peer support sharing their personal experiences of the life challenges they have faced and how they have overcome them, in a positive way to encourage the older person facing a similar situation.
This can be done in person or by telephone.
  2. Through workshops

These are held regularly at different venues throughout Nottinghamshire. The talks are designed to encourage people attending to stop and consider where they live now and its suitability for the present and future.
The topics the talks cover are: The different aspects of maintaining and looking after a property are discussed and advice as to where to obtain help should people require it, what help is available if you are struggling with everyday tasks, the different types of adaptations available to make life easier, how to make informed decisions about your care, different types of housing available to older people should they wish to move, what to consider when moving into car, where to go for money or legal advice.
