Forward Plan

What is the Forward Plan?

Each month, the council publishes a forward plan of decisions to be taken in the following four months.  The forward plan contains details of key decisions to be taken by the council which may affect the lives of people who live in, work in and visit, the district.

What is a key decision?

A key decision is an executive decision, taken by cabinet or a council officer, which is either:

  • Likely to result in council incurring expenditure or making savings which are significant and having regard to the council’s budget for the service or function to which the decision relates; or
  • Significant in terms of the effect on communities living or working in an area comprising two or more wards of the district.

Every decision that is made at Cabinet meetings falls within one of six portfolio areas and each of these portfolio areas are represented by one of the six members of the Cabinet.  The portfolio areas and portfolio holders are listed below:
