In the words of its constitution, the new friends exist ‘to educate, promote, support, assist and improve Newark and Sherwood Museum Service’.

Membership of friends is open to individuals, families, young people, institutions and corporate bodies.

Levels of membership were approved at the AGM and are as follows:

• Full/individual £10

• Joint £16

• Family £20

• Concessions £6

• Young People £6

• Institutional £24

• Corporate £32

The benefits of membership are:

• Regular Friends newsletters

• A free ACTIVE card which gives discounts on museum activities, as well as discounts on local leisure services.

Your support is vital in helping Newark and Sherwood Museum Service to thrive.

Volunteer

Our Friends and Volunteers help us achieve many different goals through their commitment, knowledge and enthusiasm.

Thanks to the efforts of our volunteers, over 10,000 photographs have been digitally recorded for the benefit of researchers and the public at large.

The volunteers also assist with preparation of materials for Learning and Outreach projects, children’s workshops and researching objects for storage and exhibitions.

Students from the University of Lincoln conservation course have undertaken projects such as object packing and unpacking, conservation and condition assessments, environmental and pest management.

Watch this space for future volunteering opportunities.
