Night shelter arrangements
When outside temperatures are set to drop below 0C degrees on three consecutive nights or more the Severe Weather emergency shelter will be opened in Newark to offer rough sleepers a place to stay.
We work in partnership with Barnby Gate Methodist Church to ensure that the Methodist Church in Newark will open up as a temporary night shelter for homeless people who will be given supper, a camp bed to sleep on and breakfast the following morning.
When the shelter opens all of our partner organisations such as the police, the Citizen’s Advice Bureau and supported housing organisations are informed as well as a poster being place outside the Church.
If you need, or know of somebody who needs to make use of the service please call us on 01636 650000.
Offering help and advice
Individuals using the shelter will receive advice and support from us in an effort to prevent them from returning to the streets.
Visit our statutory homelessness page if you require homelessness advice or support at times when the shelter is not open.
