Electoral Boundary Review

The Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) is undertaking a Further Electoral Review (FER) of Newark and Sherwood District Council.

The reason for the Further Electoral Review (FER) is that the council triggers the review criteria with 9 of the 25 district wards having electoral variances of greater than 10%. The FER will determine the total number of councillors (council size),
the number and names of wards and the boundaries.

In undertaking the FER the Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) will consider a number of factors including electoral equality, community identity and effective and convenient local government.

The first stage of the FER is the consultation on council size. This is to start on Tuesday 26th February 2013 and will end on 8th April 2013. The council were invited to put forward a proposal for council size and the submission put forward proposed a council size of 38 (there are currently 46).

This was supported by the Boundary Commission who are now seeking representations on the council size proposal. If you wish to make a representation or require any further information please do so by going to the Local Government Boundary
Commission for England Website - http://www.lgbce.org.uk/
