European Union Referendum – Register of Electors
Would-be voters who have already included on the Register of Electors do not need to register again for the European Union Referendum.
Poll cards notifying voters of the referendum to be held on Thursday, June 23, are in the process of being sent out to all registered electors and should arrive through letterboxes by Wednesday, May 25.
Nigel Hill, Business Manager - Democratic Services at Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “We understand that there may have been some confusion about registering to vote for the referendum. You do not need to register to vote for the referendum if you are already registered at your current address. We want to avoid processing any duplicate applications to register to vote from people already registered.
"If you did receive a poll card for the Police and Crime Commissioner election which took place earlier this month you will already be registered to vote.”
If you are unsure whether you are already registered please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01636 650000.
If you are not registered, you need to ensure you do so by Tuesday, June 7 at the latest, in order to be able to vote in the referendum.
