Newark and Sherwood Sports Awards 2016

Sporting talent and commitment will again be rewarded in the Newark and Sherwood Sports Awards 2016 – run by Active4Today in conjunction with Radio Newark.

Do you know a sportsperson who has gone that extra mile?
Do you know a team which has pulled together when times were tough?
Do you know a coach who has guided a sportsperson through to victory?Do you know somebody that has committed a number of hours voluntarily to support a club, individual or team?

If the answer is ‘yes’ to any of the above questions, please forward your nominations and give them the opportunity to get the recognition they deserve.

 This year’s categories are:

• Junior Sportsperson of the Year
• Junior Team of the Year
• Junior Disabled Sportsperson of the Year
• Sam White Junior Volunteer of the Year
• Senior Team of the Year
• Senior Sportsperson of the Year
• Senior Disabled Sportsperson of the Year
• Volunteer of the Year
• Coach of the Year
• Club of the Year
• School Sport Team of the Year
• Outstanding Contribution to Sport

Active4Today director of communities Alexis Knock said: “We are delighted to be running these awards again with our partners Radio Newark.  This is an opportunity to shine a light on sport in Newark and Sherwood and the many individuals, teams and clubs who make the sporting scene in the district thrive.”

Nominations must be submitted before our closing date of  October 31, 2016.  Following the deadline, an independent panel will select the top three finalists from each category.

On the week beginning Monday, December 5, an Active4Today team will be touring the district with Radio Newark to make presentations at  your club or training environment.

Active4Today is the leisure company set up and wholly owned by Newark and Sherwood District Council to run or give management support to its four leisure centres – the Newark Sports and Fitness Centre,  Southwell Leisure Centre, Dukeries Leisure Centre and Blidworth Leisure Centre.
