Smoke and garden bonfires
The council can investigate complaints from smoke from garden bonfires.
Smoke from chimneys at commercial and residential premises can also be a nuisance. In some parts of the district it is offence to emit smoke from a chimney in Smoke Control Areas.
Generally the smoke must affect other people's premises to such an extent that normal use of those premises is not possible if the council is to take action. For example, smoke entering people's houses, smoke blowing across gardens and preventing normal use of a garden and smoke affecting people's washing.
