Regulatory Committees

Regulatory Committees

The Council has four Regulatory Committees covering PlanningGeneral Purposes, Licensing, Audit and Accounts and Standards.  These Committees oversee the quasi-legal services that the Council has a statutory duty to provide to the community.

Planning Committee – considers all planning applications, appeals and planning contraventions.  It also discharges all other functions relating to town and country planning and development control.

General Purposes Committee – considers applications for hackney carriage and private hire licences.  It also deals with all authority licensing functions and ancillary matters other than those falling within the remit of the Licensing Committee and functions relating to parishes, elections and electoral registration.

Licensing Committee - is required under the Licensing Act 2003 to discharge licensing functions under the provisions of that Act.

Standards Committee – is responsible for the conduct of Members of the District and Parish Councils.

As well as Minutes and Agendas, it is possible to make formal written requests for information held by the Council, under the Freedom of Information 2000 Act, which we must respond to within 20 working days of receiving the request (or the fee if one is charged) and the information must be provided unless one of the statutory exemptions applies. For more information about what is available and a list of the exemptions please visit the Freedom of Information
pages within this site.
