Knights at Newark Castle, Nottinghamshire

TIME TRAVEL TRENT VALE -

Saturday 31 July 2010

10am to 4pm, free event!

To celebrate the Festival of British Archaeology and receiving £1.6m from The Heritage Lottery Fund, The Trent Vale Landscape Partnership are holding a free public event, “Time Travel Trent Vale” at Newark Castle.

  • re enactors from throughout history will delight every generation
  • children's activities and crafts
  • music and stalls
  • displays and dynamic clashes between knights of old.
  • hidden corners of the castle and dungeons!
  • there'll even be a medieval torturer - so the fright factor is covered!

Antique Key at Newark Antiques Fair

Newark Antiques Fairs

Newark is famous for holding the largest antiques event in Europe.  Up to 4,000 stalls. 84 acres. 10 buildings. Over 200 shopping arcades. 44 marquees. 100's of outside pitches. 1000's of overseas buyers.
Held every two months, the dates for this year are:

  • Thursday 19 August/Friday 20 August
  • Thursday 7 October/Friday 8 October
  • Thursday 2 December/Friday 3 December

Summer Street Entertainment
Fire Juggler

Street entertainers will be performing in Newark and Southwell on Saturdays between 5th June and 11th September. There are also performances scheduled for Ollerton, although these are not every week.

Entertainers will include clowns, puppet shows, musicians, a one man band and even a fire juggling unicyclist!

Street Entertainers will also be performing on Wednesdays during the summer school holidays in Newark only.

Entertainment will run from Wednesday 21st July until Wednesday 1st September.

Newark Blues Festival

Friday 10 Sept to Sunday 12 Sept - Newark Blues Festival 2010

The second annual Newark Blues Festival will feature over 25 bands playing over the weekend at venues around Newark, including....

"Blues at the Castle" on Saturday 11th September, when four top UK bands perform in the grounds of Newark Castle.
