Reporting a problem to Newark and Sherwood District Council

You can report problems to us in a variety of ways, by telephone, by calling into Kelham Hall or one of our local offices, by e-mail or by letter. If you consider the fault is dangerous and requires urgent attention please call the appropriate office immediately.

The emergency number for use out of office hours for Housing and Environmental Services problems is 01636 650000. An answerphone facility will provide you with the current emergncy numbers to use.

Please note that if you wish to report a problem concerning roads and highways, for example, reporting a problem with a pavement, street light, pothole or verge, then you will need to contact the Highways Department at Nottinghamshire County Council.

Making a complaint

Newark and Sherwood District Council operates a formal Customer Comments Procedure  which means that any of your comments or suggestions, made verbally, on-line or in writing, will be:

  • Passed directly to the Chief Executive;
  • Acknowledged within 3 working days of us having received them at Kelham Hall:
  • Responded to by the relevant manager wthin 10 working days of them having received the comment from the Chief Executive.
