The Holocaust Centre is Britain’s first dedicated Holocaust Memorial and Education Centre, set in two acres of beautiful gardens. The peaceful setting allows people to reflect and explore the history and implications of the Holocaust. The exhibition sensitively outlines the history of the Jews in Europe, the development of anti-Semitism, Hitler’s rise to power, the Third Reich, the ghetto period, the ‘Final Solution’ and the pain of survival. In the memorial gardens are hundreds of white roses, planted in memory of those murdered. There is also a bookshop, memorial hall and coffee shop. Survivors give public talks on weekends throughout the summer. There is also the opportunity for visitors to learn about contemporary genocides, as the Centre is home to the Aegis Trust for genocide prevention.
