Guided tours of the Castle are conducted by the Castle Ranger every week.  All tours last approximately one hour.

The tours normally run on the following days:

Wednesday,  Friday,  Saturday and Sunday

At the following times:

DUNGEON TOUR - 11 am
Includes two barrel vaulted dungeons and a bottle dungeon.

This tour involves the use of ladders to gain entry to confined spaces.  Suitable clothing and footwear must be worn.

TOWERS &  UNDERCROFT TOUR  - 1 pm
Investigate the archaeology and history of Newark castle and discover the different types of architecture associated with the castle.  Visit the South West and Gatehouse Towers, Galleries and Undercroft.

This tour involves climbing 77 stairs to the top of the Gatehouse.

CIVIL WAR TOUR - 3 pm (Summer months only)
Sieges and surrender - the impact of the Civil War on Newark Castle
