Planning Policies and Local Development Framework
The Planning Policy section is responsible for the preparation, monitoring and review of local planning policies, including those of the Newark & Sherwood Local Plan and the Local Development Framework.
These planning policies form the basis for the District Councils decisions on planning applications
The section also as part of the production of the Local Development Framework regularly undertakes consultation exercises, the details of which can be found on the Planning Policy homepage.

Newark & Sherwood Local Plan (Adopted 1999)
The Local Plan sets out planning policies and proposals for the future development of the District and contains policies on topic areas including housing, employment, countryside and the natural environment, shopping and recreation.

Newark & Sherwood Local Development Framework
The Local Development Framework comprises a folder of planning policy documents including the Local Development Scheme and Statement of Community Involvement.
The Significant documents within the Local Development Framework are the Development Plan Documents which include the Core Strategy, Site Specific Land Allocations & Policies, General Development Control Policies and the Proposals Map.
Alongside this Supplementary Planning Documents will be produced covering Affordable Housing, Developer Contributions, Sustainable Energy and the Shopfront & Advertisement Design Guide (currently undergoing consultation at the Draft stage).
The Annual Monitoring Report is written annually to monitor progress and performance against a range of indicators.
As each of the planning policy documents becomes adopted parts of the Local Plan will be replaced. Once all the documents have been adopted then the Local Plan will no longer be part of the Development Plan for the District
