Local Strategic Partnership
Newark and Sherwood Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) brings together key partners from the public, private and voluntary sectors to deliver the aspirations set out in the district's Sustainable Community Strategy, which presents a shared vision for the district, and sets out the top priorities that need to be addressed across Newark and Sherwood's communities. It establishes how local agencies will work together with local people to promote the development of communities that are socially, economically and environmentally sustainable (The Community Delivery Plan) (PDF file).
The Community led plans produced at a Parish or neighbourhood level also feed into process through theme group.
The Community Plan also contributes to the development of spatial planning within the district. It provides the wider strategic context for the district's Local Development Framework (LDF), which shares the Community Plan's Vision.
Our Shared Vision for the Future
Our aim is for residents in Newark and Sherwood to feel that their area offers them the best quality of life in the East Midlands. By 2010 we aim to be one of the top 10 rural districts in the region and by 2015 one of the top 5.
Local Strategic Partnership Structure
To effectively manage the work required to achieve our vision for the district, the Local Strategic Partnership has developed a structure (PDF file) with defined Strategic, Management and Delivery responsibilities.
- Strategic: LSP Board
The Local Strategic Partnership's Board is responsible for determining the strategic direction of the LSP as it works towards achieving both our Community Plan's vision and local level targets from the new Nottinghamshire Partnership Agreement (Nottinghamshire's Local Area Agreement 2008 - 2011).
The LSP's Board is a small, focused group comprising senior representatives from key sector organisations and agencies that have an impact upon the district and its communities. It provides the overall strategic steer for the Partnership - which is translated into action and activity by Management and Theme Groups.
The LSP Board's meeting agendas and minutes and the Board's Terms of Reference (PDF file) are also available to view.
- Management: LSP Management Group
The Local Strategic Partnership's Board is supported by a Management Group which is responsible for monitoring and managing the LSP's performance and resources. The LSP Management Group comprises the Chairs of the LSP's six theme groups, representatives from the Stategic Information Network, performance and finance officers and other key specialists. This group provides the link between the LSP's Board and Theme Groups.
- Management intelligence Group
The Strategic Information Network (SIN) Group works closely with the Management Group pulling together existing information and commissioning new surveys relevant to the LSP's operation.
- Delivery: LSP Theme Groups
The LSP's six theme groups are responsible for delivering activity towards the achievement of the shared vision, as well as overseeing each of the district level Nottinghamshire Partnership Agreement targets.
Strategically aligned to both Community Plan's priorities and the Nottinghamshire Partnership Agreement's key themes, these groups are made up of practitioners/officers from key organisations, agencies and sectors.
