Clipstone Parish Review
Review of Clipstone Parish Council
On 17th August 2009, the Council received a petition from the Kings Clipstone Village Council Steering Group seeking to establish a separate parish council for Kings Clipstone.
The recommendation within the petition was to create a new parish council called Kings Clipstone Village Council to serve the community. The petitioners put forward that the needs of the different communities within Clipstone would be best served by creating a separate Clipstone parish and Kings Clipstone parish.
A copy of the petition document and map illustrating the proposed new parish can be found following the link below: -

| (iv) | that the boundaries for the proposals be as set out on the map, which takes into account the boundaries as agreed between Clipstone Parish Council and Kings Clipstone Village Council Steering Group | |
| (v) | that the name for the new parish be Kings Clipstone Village Council, the remaining parish council be named as Clipstone Parish Council; and | |
| (vi) | that Clipstone Parish Council be warded into Clipstone Village and Cavendish Wards in accordance with (iii) above; | |
Reasons for the Decision
- To allow local people a say in the way their neighbourhoods are managed - one of the characteristics of a sustainable community is the desire for a community to be well run with effective and inclusive participation, representation and leadership.
- The proposed new parish reflects a distinctive and recognisable community with its own sense of identity.
- Local community interest and social focus lies within the part of the parish with its seperate identity.
- The proposed new parish will be reflective of the identities and interests of the community in that area and is effective and convenient.
- Establishing the new parish will give the local community the opportunity to influence decisions affecting their lives.
