Train Travel in Nottinghamshire

Local train information
Our tourist information centres can provide you with train timetables for most local journeys or can assist you with planning a longer journey using information available over the internet.  

The Council operates a Concessionary Travel Scheme which allows eligible people (if you are 60 or over or you are an eligible disabled person), to use local buses, trams and train services.

Newark has good rail access from the rest of Britain.
There are two train stations in the town:

Newark Northgate station is served by the East Coast mainline (London to Edinburgh) service, run by National Express.  The journey to Newark from London Kings Cross takes approximately 90 minutes.  It is a 15 to 20 minutes walk from the town centre.

Newark Castle station is on the cross country line from Leicester to Nottingham and Lincoln.  The train services are run by East Midlands Trains.  The direct journey to Newark from Leicester takes approximately 80 minutes.  It is a 5 to 10 minute walk from Newark town centre.

Mansfield station is on the Robin Hood line which provides East Midlands train services between Nottingham and Worksop. The journey from Mansfield to Nottingham takes approximately 40 minutes. There are connecting bus services from Ollerton and nearby villages to Mansfield with just a few minutes walk from the bus station to the train station.
