We have 4 leisure centres within Newark & Sherwood:

Sports Development

Sports Development seeks to promote opportunities available for people to take part in sports and activities. They have many objectives including:

• Increase participation in sport and physical activity
• Increase the number of volunteers and coaches
• Provide advice and support to voluntary organisations and sports clubs
• Promote healthy lifestyles
• Raise awareness of sport and physical activity for disabled people

Newark Palace Theatre

Newark Palace Theatre is a charming listed building that operates as a theatre and cinema throughout the year.

Museums

Newark and Sherwood District Council Museum consists of Newark Millgate Museum,  the Resource Centre and Gilstrap Centre. The service has over 70,000 objects in its collections including archaeology, costume, natural history, art, photographs, social history Civil War and military items.

The museums host an award winning  Education and Outreach Service, and also enjoy support via its Friends and Volunteer Groups.

The museum has fascinating displays and is home to the Mezzanine Gallery a bookable exhibition space. 

Arts Development

Contact our Arts Development team for:

• Developing arts projects and creative activities in your community
• Support for artists, volunteers, performers and organisations
• Advice and training on funding
• Information on events, activities and arts opportunities

Events

Newark & Sherwood hosts many exciting events throughout the year.

The At Your Leisure Guide is produced 3 times per year and provides details of sport, local events, holiday activities for your children, and much more.
