Citizen’s Advice Bureau can help you understand your employment rights, dismissal and benefits, insolvency payments, income-related and contributions-based job seekers allowance, and redundancy. 

Directgov website provides guidance to individuals that are being made redundant. 

TUC - Coping with the economic downturn provides advice and signposting if you are facing redundancy.

Support to find employment

Directgov job and skills search helps people get into paid work. From the start of unemployment, all customers receive access to the UK's largest database of vacancies, advice on looking and applying for jobs, and help and advice regarding benefit and tax credit entitlements. The jobs search database in located on the Directgov website along with a useful tips and information to assist individuals looking for work.

The Family Employment Initiative provides support to residents in Rainworth and Clipstone that are unemployed and looking for work. The service provides free and confidential support to help individuals and families to find a job, CV development, completing application forms, interview preparation, benefit advice, training advice and help with initial costs of going back into work. The Unique Coffee Bar Charity provide support to individuals in the Newark area that are looking for work or want to get back into learning. They will help Newark residents to find work, develop a CV, and provide help with application forms and identifying training requirements. Call 01636 594950.

Colleges around the district have flexible, community and professional training courses available that in many cases may be free to access if unemployed.
