Commercial waste bins The legal, safe and regular disposal of commercial waste is the responsibility of every business. The council’s waste management service has a dedicated, experienced commercial waste team  who have experience of handling all types of waste at competitive rates.

We offer a full range of waste disposal options from pre-paid labels to put on black bags and bundles of cardboard, to a range of wheeled bins at 240 litres (£4.30 per collection, excluding VAT), 360 litres (£5.86 per collection), 660 litres (£9.94 per collection) and 1,100 litres (£15.43 per collection)..

We offer a flexible, efficient service at competitive rates, aimed solely at businesses and designed to fit your waste disposal needs. We also give advice on storage and disposal of waste, clinical waste collection services and excess collections for when you have additional or extra waste.

Unlike some other commercial waste companies, there is no charge for your waste transfer note, nor do we charge additional bin rental. We also offer 10% discount off the waste collection charge for all additional containers.

You can complete our online form to register your interest in a collection and we will contact you at a convenient time.

Commercial waste recycling

Having introduced recycling bins to 50,000 domestic properties, the council is looking to extend this to commercial waste, subject to market forces. There are currently a number of commercial recycling companies who operate locally.

WEEE Directive

You may have obligations under the The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) if you are a business with electrical/electronic equipment to dispose of, or if you sell electrical or electronic equipment. The directive aims to improve the environmental performance of businesses that manufacture, supply, use, recycle and recover electrical and electronic equipment. Check the Environment Agency website to see if your business has any obligations under this directive.

Your duty of care

If you operate any form of business, you have a legal responsibility under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and other related legislation to safely contain and legally dispose of any waste produced from your business.

If you don’t, you can be taken to court as you are committing offences. Please note that your business rates do not include the cost of your business waste disposal.
