Graduate Placement Opportunity

Approximately 12 - 16 weeks

Subsistence rate of £20 per day

The Council’s new offices programme is a cross cutting programme that will include over 30 projects (some of which are interlinked) with a capital expenditure of approximately £6 million and an anticipated revenue saving to the Council of £400k per annum.

As part of the Moving Ahead Programme, Newark and Sherwood District Council is offering a work experience opportunity for a graduate. Applicants will need good interpersonal skills, an enthusiastic attitude and an organised, methodical approach to get the most out of this opportunity.

As part of the placement, the successful applicant will be supporting the Moving Ahead programme and will have the opportunity to gain experience in the following areas:

  • Cultural change and workforce development
  • Research and analytics
  • Customer services engagement
  • Partner development
  • Communications and stakeholder management
  • Verbal and written presentation skills (to senior managers and politicians)

The specific duties of the placement will depend on which of the projects you are working on; there is some flexibility here as we will try to work with the successful applicant’s particular area of interest but there will be the chance to engage with all parts of the programme and a variety of stakeholders.

This placement will allow you to gain relevant, practical and challenging experience that will enhance your CV no matter what you choose as your future career.

The duration of the project will be 12-16 weeks. We are looking for an applicant who would be available full time for this period. A fixed rate of £20 per day expenses will be paid – there is no salary paid for this role.

The role will be primarily based at Kelham Hall but there may be a requirement to attend outside locations with other members of the team.
