D2N2 Growth Hub's UpScaler

If your company is growing at a pace that is hard to manage, the D2N2 Growth Hub’s UpScaler project could be the ideal solution.
As an invitation-only scheme, UpScaler is open to a limited number of high-growth enterprises that are growing rapidly or planning to do so. Businesses that are scaling up; have the potential to scale-up; or are ambitious to grow will be considered for the programme.
Benefits of joining D2N2 Growth Hub’s UpScaler include access to a customised range of proven business support workshops, peer-to-peer events and a management development programme, enhanced by a grant scheme to subsidise the cost of additional support.
Who Should Attend?
Senior managers from businesses and SMES based in Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire that are growing and have the potential to scale Private sector and public sector service providers who would like more information and can signpost other businesses onto the D2N2 Growth Hub Upscaler project.
There are three eligible categories of high growth business:
- Scale-up businesses - businesses with between 10 and 249 people, turnover between £1m- £45m and annual growth of 20%+ for the last three years.
- Potential scale-up businesses - businesses with between 10 and 249 people, a turnover of £1m- £45m and that have achieved annual growth of 10%+ for the last three years or 20% + for the last two years.
- Ambitious businesses – SMEs that do not fit the criteria above but can achieve some or all of the scale-up characteristics outlined below.

10am - 11am: Meet with D2N2 Growth Hub ScaleUp Advisers, networking and refreshments

Every employee has a role to play in creating a positive and inclusive culture within their organisation. This free ‘Dignity at Work’ workshop will explore all aspects of workplace bullying and harassment, helping you to recognise and challenge unwanted behaviour.
It is open to every job level and is a great opportunity to bring along your own examples and questions.
The session is hosted by Camino HR and supported by Newark & Sherwood District Council and Invest Newark & Sherwood.

Growing Places Fund
Round four of the Growing Places Fund is now open offering loans between £250,000 and £2million to individual companies or organisations to finance capital (building and infrastructure) investment, resulting in business growth and job creation.
Funded projects must be located within D2N2 LEP’s area, covered by the administrative boundaries of Derby City, Derbyshire County, Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County local authorities.
Funding is limited and preference will be given to projects which deliver on the LEP’s strategic priorities and key areas of economic focus. More information on these is available on the D2N2 Website and in its Strategic Economic Plan.

There is no cut off date by which applications must be received, at this time, though applicants are encouraged to submit applications as soon as possible.
Business Assist Programme
If you're a trading business you can receive expert, impartial business advice from advisers you can trust. Running your own business can be a lonely occupation. What could improve this?
How about the advice of an impartial, experienced business person? Someone to act as a sounding board, providing focussed and objective assistance. If you think you could benefit from a fresh perspective the NBV Business Assist programme could be just what you need.
Grant in Enterprise
As an existing business you could access up to £2,500 of funding to help your business. NBV have directly supported local businesses to access over £2m in grant funding over the past 3 years and they are now offering businesses in Newark and Sherwood the Grant for Enterprise.
Eligible businesses can claim up to £2,500 for specific projects or investments. In order to be eligible you must:
- Fit the criteria of Small and Medium Sized Business (SME)
- Have commenced trading
- Only trade business to business, not retail or business to consumer.
