Chartered Health and Safety Consultant, Chris, Owen, Optimum Safety and Thomas Enright, a responsible business consultant and former Head of Safety, Health and Sustainability at
Affinity Water will give an overview of the Corporate Manslaughter Act. They will use examples of prosecutions from various business sectors which have been undertaken in the past 11 years since the Act came into force.
Attendees will also have an option to ask about their Health and Safety challenges and frustrations, and both hosts will offer their experience and guidance.

Every employee has a role to play in creating a positive and inclusive culture within their organisation. This free ‘Dignity at Work’ workshop will explore all aspects of workplace bullying and harassment, helping you to recognise and challenge unwanted behaviour.
It is open to every job level and is a great opportunity to bring along your own examples and questions.
The session is hosted by Camino HR and supported by Newark & Sherwood District Council and Invest Newark & Sherwood.

Growing Places Fund
Round four of the Growing Places Fund is now open offering loans between £250,000 and £2million to individual companies or organisations to finance capital (building and infrastructure) investment, resulting in business growth and job creation.
Funded projects must be located within D2N2 LEP’s area, covered by the administrative boundaries of Derby City, Derbyshire County, Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County local authorities.
Funding is limited and preference will be given to projects which deliver on the LEP’s strategic priorities and key areas of economic focus. More information on these is available on the D2N2 Website and in its Strategic Economic Plan.

There is no cut off date by which applications must be received, at this time, though applicants are encouraged to submit applications as soon as possible.
Business Assist Programme

How about the advice of an impartial, experienced business person? Someone to act as a sounding board, providing focussed and objective assistance. If you think you could benefit from a fresh perspective the NBV Business Assist programme could be just what you need.
Grant in Enterprise
As an existing business you could access up to £2,500 of funding to help your business. NBV have directly supported local businesses to access over £2m in grant funding over the past 3 years and they are now offering businesses in Newark and Sherwood the Grant for Enterprise.
Eligible businesses can claim up to £2,500 for specific projects or investments. In order to be eligible you must:
- Fit the criteria of Small and Medium Sized Business (SME)
- Have commenced trading
- Only trade business to business, not retail or business to consumer.
