Leaving the EU means a number of changes that will affect businesses and individual citizens.
EU Settlement Scheme for EU citizens in the UK
The UK government has reached an agreement with the EU that will protect the rights of EU citizens and their family members living in the UK. It has also reached an agreement with Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein, and a separate agreement with Switzerland.
These agreements mean that most citizens from the EU, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland will need to apply to stay in the UK. They can then continue living their lives here as they do now.
If you’re an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen, you and your family MUST apply to the EU Settlement Scheme to continue living in the UK after 30 June 2021.
If your application is successful, you’ll get either settled or pre-settled status.
The EU Settlement Scheme is open. You can apply now if you meet the criteria. You can fill out the application here.
The deadline for applying is 30 June 2021. You must usually have started living in the UK by 31 December 2020.
It’s free to apply to the scheme.
Further information and applications to the EU Settlement Scheme can be found via the GOV.UK site.
