Newark walk-through COVID-19 Local Testing Site (Castle House)

If you have symptoms of coronavirus which are any of: a new, continuous cough, a high temperature and a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste, you should get a test.

You must book a test by calling 119 or visiting gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test.

You may be given an appointment at the walk-through Local Testing Site in Newark which is operated by the Department for Health and Social Care and located at Castle House, Great North Road, Newark NG24 1BY.

The site is open seven days a week, 8am to 8pm.

You must not take public transport to get to the site or to return home, additionally you must not visit any shops or other premises prior to your test and you should return home immediately.

To ensure the site is Covid secure you must wear a face mask, adhere to social distancing and have a form of identification with you.

 

Who can book a test for the Local Testing Site?
Anyone with symptoms of coronavirus which are any of: a new, continuous cough, a high temperature or loss or change to sense of smell or taste can book a test online http://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test or by calling 119.

What do I need to take with me?

You must wear a face mask and have a form of identification, such as a driving licence, passport, NHS card or utilities bill. You will not be admitted to site without a face covering.

What if it is busy?
If the site is busy, you may have to queue. Please ensure you follow social distancing of two metres at all times.

How do I get to the site?
You can drive, walk or cycle to Castle House. Please be aware that the site is walk through only, therefore you will have to park up nearby and walk to the site. You must not use public transport. This is to help protect others and stop the spread of coronavirus.

What is this test for?
It is a PCR test, to test whether you have COVID-19. It is not an antibody test to identify if you have had or are immune to the virus.

When will I get my results
You will receive your test result via text or email within 72 hours and will be told what to do next.

Can I bring family members?
Only those having a test should attend the test site. If you are unable to leave family members at home, they may accompany you on site, but must also be wearing a face covering.

Site security reserves the right to refuse entry to additional persons above those booked for testing.

Why are you using Castle House car park?
Castle House car park has been selected for a Local Testing Site (LTS) by local public health leaders because it is well known, easy to find, and is a fairly large, level space. It has also been used for the mobile testing unit programme during the past six months.

Can I visit any shops whilst I am in town?

No. You must you must not visit any shops or other premises prior to your test and should return home immediately afterwards.

How do you accommodate women who require segregation for religious or other reasons?
A number of bays on each site can be split off using curtains and female staff members can be available on those bays if required. These curtains are then cleaned down after each use.
