Cycling is an excellent way to get fit and have fun.
Nottinghamshire has some great areas for cycling, including some dedicated cycling facilities. A few are listed below, but you can find much more if you explore:
In Clumber Park, a local National Trust property, there are more than 20 miles of cycle routes around the lake or through the woodland. Clumber park also hosts many Cycleabout events throughout the year.
Route 6, which is part of the National Cycle Network, runs through Nottinghamshire, from Nottingham to Worksop or Derby. Route 64 goes from Bingham to Lincoln and route 15 from Bingham to Grantham.
Sherwood Pines near Clipstone has woodland paths as well as all levels of mountain bike tracks.
Sherwood Pines is perfect for a day of outdoor adventure and in additional to cycling offers walking trails, adventure play parks, parkland and picnic areas, Go Ape and a brilliant café for refuelling. You can take your own bikes or hire them on site from the friendly team in the shop.
Search for cycling clubs in Nottinghamshire using the Nottinghamshire Sport website.
The British Cycling website has some new ‘How to get into’ pages for anyone who has caught the cycling bug and wants to get more serious.
