Celebrating and showcasing the world of books through an exciting and engaging programme. From author talks, to readings, stories, theatre, film and crafts. Crime fiction, contemporary writing, debuts, Science Fiction and fantasy, Cream Tea's, Classic crime and literary fiction, to a whole host of free family fun. There is something for everyone to enjoy.

Taking place in beautiful venues across the town, this year the festival will be exploring the theme of Home and Away. From travelling around the world and through your imagination, to a celebration of all things home and Nottinghamshire.

This year’s guests include Joanne Harris, Alison Weir, Michelle Harrison, Mark Billingham, Martin Edwards, Diana Evans, Elly Griffiths and many more.

Tickets will be on sale from the Palace Theatre Box Office from Wednesday 15 May.

Newark Traditions Festival and Artisan Market

Friday 19 July to Sunday 21 July

Enjoy the music and dancing of over 20 different Morris Dance groups at venues around the town centre including the market place and castle grounds. On Saturday weavers, spinners and dyers display heritage crafts in the castle grounds.

Join the Newark and Sherwood Community Hub team for children’s crafts by the bandstand on Saturday and on Sunday enjoy an afternoon of music with a brass band concert and free children’s circus skills beginning at 2pm in the castle grounds.

European Juggling Festival 3 to 11 August at Newark ShowgroundYou are invited to the world’s biggest juggling event!

EJC Newark! 3 to 11 August 2019

The team at the European Juggling Convention (EJC) 2019 are proud to be bringing the world's largest juggling event to the UK in August 2019. The EJC will be in its 42nd year and it hasn't been to the UK for many years but this year is coming to Newark Showground.

It’s a fun and chilled out week of juggling, circus skills, aerial workshops, western skills workshops, extreme unicycling, balloon modelling, world-class performances and shows... the list goes on.

All of the activities and camping is included in the ticket price. Visit the EJC website to find out prices and more information. All areas are accessible.

Save the date for the BIG DAY OUT on Sunday 4 August as we welcome the jugglers into Newark town centre for the opening parade and fire show.

Along with Newark Town Council we are sponsoring and helping to plan an extraordinary day of activities for the town.

Join our friendly park rangers for forest school at Sconce and Devon Park and Vicar Water Country Park in Clipstone.

Get out and about in the fresh air!

If you are in need of a breath of fresh air and an energising walk in the countryside during the school holidays take a stroll around one of our local country parks.

Sherwood Forest

Visit the brand new Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre and find out about the legend of Robin Hood and the ecology and wildlife of Sherwood Forest. Call in the nearby Sherwood Forest Arts and Craft Centre to browse the studio's and watch crafters and painters in action. The arts and craft centre offers children's activities each Wednesday during school holidays.

Newark junior parkrun

Newark junior parkrun is for juniors (4-14 year olds). How about trying one of the weekly junior 2k parkrun events?

It is held every Sunday at 9am at Sconce and Devon Park and it is FREE to join in and take part.

The aim is to have fun. Please come along and join in whatever your pace! It's very friendly!

Every week parkrunners grab a post parkrun drink in Rumbles Café - please come and join us.
