Festivals in Newark and Sherwood
The Woodland Trust's Nature Detectives website offers lots of ideas for pulling on your trainers, rolling up your sleeves and getting outside. You can have fun with boredom-busting school holiday activities, find out about nature's signs of summer, make the most of local woods, look for animal tracks, explore, smell and splash around your local park.

Newark Book Festival
Friday 13th to Sunday 15th July
Newark Book Festival is offering a treasure trove of free events for children and families this year and we are proud to be supporting the children’s literature quarter.
Look out for story-times, walkabout street theatre throughout the weekend, meet the Gruffalo in Newark Library, crafts at Millgate Community Centre, competitions, the launch of the summer reading challenge, children’s book launches and readings. On Sunday the castle is becoming an enchanted forest and you can wonder along the fairy trail watching out for Robin Hood.

Get your groove on at Farnstock! Saturday 21 July 12pm to 12am
Now in its sixth year, Farnstock 2018 is an ‘on-your-doorstep’ family-friendly music festival in Farnsfield.
This popular local family event will showcase 12 hours of live music and DJs across 2 stages, with a fantastic full line up of artists from midday to midnight.
Also back by popular demand is Farnstock’s mini beer and cider festiva, with a range of locally brewed ales and ciders to tempt any palate as well as our Pimms and Prosecco! Introducing this year by popular demand our secret Gin Bar!!
For families there is arts and crafts, a cinema marquee, circus skills and plenty of family friendly entertainment throughout the day.
The Bard’s Tales

Can-Do Theatre presents The Bard’s Tales. An irresistible and hilarious combination of storytelling and performance. Enjoy best-loved scenes from Romeo and Juliet, Midsummer Night’s Dream and more.
The Running time is around 2 hours with interval and it’s suitable for children age 7+

Newark junior parkrun
Newark junior parkrun is for juniors (4-14 year olds). How about trying one of the weekly junior 2k parkrun events?
It is held every Sunday at 9am at Sconce and Devon Park and it is FREE to join in and take part.
The aim is to have fun. Please come along and join in whatever your pace! It's very friendly!
