Parks and gardens

A green flag park including the historic Queen's sconce - a fortification which is a remnant of the British Civil Wars. Walks, events, play area, cafe and Saturday parkrun.

Parkland formed on former colliery spoil tips and transformed to heathland, woodland and grassland. Includes fishing lake, bike trails, cafe, Forest School and play area.

Pretty, formal gardens bordered by the remaining walls of historic Newark Castle. Tours available and bandstand programme throughout the summer months.

Lowland heathland, acid grassland and woodland pasture near to Ollerton with important flora and fauna. Look out for birds, butterflies and glow worms!

We are very lucky to have wide variety of family parks, formal gardens, nature reserves and outdoor sports facilities within the district. It's time to explore!

Our local nature reserves include an impressive range of habitats, each supporting its own characteristic species. Join local volunteer conservation groups to help protect our special plants and animals.
