Usher Insights - Lesley

"I decided that I wanted to volunteer and decided to apply to be a volunteer usher at the theatre. Following an interview and acceptance, there was a short induction to familiarise myself with the duties and responsibilities of the ushers role. Then the great fun and satisfaction I get from being an usher began.

My first recollection is of my first panto session, that was over five years ago. It was a schools performance and the pure joy of seeing the children's faces, with a few exceptions, was uplifting and a privilege to be part of. The joy of seeing people of all ages and preference for me is a wonderful and uplifting experience.

Another pleasure is working with The Palace Theatre, including other ushers and the staff team. Together I enjoy being part of a team that strives to give each and every theatre goer the best experience of our wonderful local theatre. This year is the centenary anniversary, unfortunately due to Covid19 many of the planned events have needed to be postponed, however when it is safe for people to come back safely to the theatre it will be wonderful for us all to return and I will be looking forward to seeing everyone again." - Thank you Lesley!
