Support for older people

Browse schemes and services available in our area aimed at improving the lives of older people.

Newark and Sherwood is part of the Age-friendly Communities network, a national movement of places committed to make their communities a great place to age in.

The framework consists of 8 domains which we will work with residents to understand and outline a plan to improve:

  • community health support and health services
  • outdoor spaces and buildings
  • transportation
  • housing
  • social participation
  • respect and social inclusion
  • civic participation and enjoyment
  • communication and information

The schemes below reflect these 8 priorities.

Older Person’s Forum

As a resident you can join our forum to:

  • share your lived experience
  • provide us with valuable insight on what our district is like to age in
  • help shape the action plan to make a district a great place to age in

If you would like to get involved, get in touch using the details at the bottom of this page.

Dementia Directory

The Dementia Directory has been developed to bring together local services, support, and resources available for people living with dementia and their carers in one place.

The directory makes it easier for individuals, families, and professionals to find the right help quickly, stay informed about what is available in their area, and access support that helps people live well with dementia.
