3000 homes in areas of Southwell, Lowdham, Lincoln Road and Hawtonville in Newark will soon be taking part in a new food waste collection trial as Newark and Sherwood District Council prepares for the introduction of separate food waste collections across the district in 2027.

Newark and Sherwood District Council has successfully obtained a grant from the Chewing Gum Task Force, administered by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, to help clean up gum and reduce gum littering.

New measures are being introduced by Newark and Sherwood District Council as part of a campaign to tackle dog fouling and full bins in identified hotspot areas.

Residents across Newark and Sherwood are being encouraged to take simple, everyday actions to protect the environment as part of this year’s Great Big Green Week by becoming a local Green Champion.
