Newark is a well-connected town, rich in history, featuring a vast number of unique and independent shops. It’s home to Newark Castle, the National Civil War Centre, as well as a host of local businesses. It’s well loved by residents and visitors but like any town, it too, has its challenges.

Visitors to Newark’s town centre will soon be taken back to the early 20th century as two Grade II listed buildings are to be transformed thanks to funding from Historic England and Newark and Sherwood District Council.

For most people in Newark and Sherwood, your Council Tax is made up of five main parts. The main bulk, 73.2%, is set by Nottinghamshire County Council and it has set its increase for 2023 – 2024 at 4.84%.

The Sustainability in Business workshop, held at Hexgreave Hall on 28 February and organised by Newark and Sherwood District Council, provided expert insight into the positive effects sustainability can have on local businesses.

The Safer Streets project continues to improve safety and security in the district as new intercom systems are installed in residential council properties in Newark.
