Residents across Newark and Sherwood are being invited to attend a series of free digital support sessions this October as part of Get Online Week, the UK's annual digital inclusion campaign led by the Good Things Foundation.
We will be hosting four free drop-in sessions to help residents feel more confident getting online by providing advice on how to access and use online Council services.
The sessions will offer friendly, practical support from council staff and are designed for anyone who would like help navigating digital Council services, whether they are new to using online services or simply need some guidance.
Support available at the sessions includes:
- finding information and services on the Council website
- accessing and completing online forms and applications
- creating and using online accounts
- uploading documents and supporting evidence
- building confidence in using online Council services
Residents can bring their own smartphone, tablet or laptop, although Council equipment will also be available during the sessions for those who need it, with computers available to use at the Councils offices in Newark and Ollerton, in the future.

Councillor Peter Harris, Portfolio Holder for Corporate Services at Newark and Sherwood District Council, said:
We want residents to be able to access Council services quickly and easily 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, whatever their level of digital confidence. These sessions provide friendly, practical support to help people use our online services and make the most of the digital options available to them.
Whether you need help completing an online form, setting up an account or simply finding the right information, our staff will be on hand to help.
As an added incentive, residents who attend any of the sessions will have the chance to enter a free prize draw to win one of two tablets.
While staff will be able to provide general support with accessing and using online Council services, they will not be able to make decisions on individual cases or provide specialist advice about specific Council services. However, they will be able to help residents identify the correct service and understand the next steps.
