Local young people dreaming of a creative career may find that ambition a little easier to achieve thanks to a grant that’s just reopened for applications. The Palace Theatre Newark’s Our Past Your Future Fund was set up for the Theatre’s centenary in 2020 to give back to the community which has supported it over 100 years and to ensure its legacy of championing the arts in Newark continues in future generations.

Newark and Sherwood Community Lottery celebrates a £2,000 win! Since launching over £20,450 has been won and almost £62,000 has been raised for the local community.

Newark and Sherwood District Council has committed an additional £100,000 to Lowdham’s Flood Alleviation Scheme. This brings the District Council’s total amount contributed towards supporting areas of the district prone to severe flooding to £800,000.

On 28 July Newark Town centre will once again resonate with the sounds of wheels on tarmac as the elite of British cycling slug it out to determine who will be crowned champion. Following on from the hugely popular event last year, once again the finale of the British Cycling National Circuit Series will use the historic Royal Market as the backdrop for the final races of the season. Last year we saw a massive influx of visitors to the town, with the businesses who supported the event showing increased footfall through the evening.

Local organisations can now apply for a grant thanks to additional funding secured by Newark and Sherwood District Council through the Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF) and a contribution from the District Council’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) allocation.
