People across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire are being invited to share their views on the future of local government.

Today, Councillor Paul Peacock, Leader of Newark and Sherwood District Council, has shared his delight at receiving formal notification from National Highways that funding for the A46 Newark Bypass has been secured, subject to planning approval. Read the letter from National Highways here:

Families looking for a free, fun and local way to spend the summer holidays are invited to take part in Rebel Rangers – a summer challenge running across Newark and Sherwood from Friday 1 August until Sunday 7 September – with prizes to be won!

Newark and Sherwood District Council is committed to tackling, and supporting survivors of, domestic abuse.  The District Council is seeking accreditation through the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance to make sure it is doing all it can to support anyone impacted by domestic abuse, making sure the services it provides to both the public and employees puts those impacted at the centre of everything it delivers.

Newark is commemorating its local heritage, and the life and works of one it’s most influential residents through the launch of two brand new trails and the unveiling of newly placed sculptures in his honour. One trail celebrates Robert Kiddey, a gifted sculptor, artist, and teacher whose legacy lives on through the public artworks, personal memories, and creative spirit he left behind. The second trail, Threads of Time, takes you on a journey through Newark’s past and the objects that have contributed to the rich history of the town.

At a meeting of the Full Council last night (Tuesday 15 July), Newark and Sherwood District Council members approved a significant step forward in shaping the future of local government.

The final project in an initiative that gives local volunteers in Newark and Sherwood an opportunity to gain accredited skills was recently completed at Balderton Scout Hut.
