Newark and Sherwood District Council is committed to cracking down on anti-social behaviour (ASB) and has increased the number of CCTV cameras it has as part of its work to create a safer district.  In addition, current CCTV was also reviewed, and a replacement scheme created.

A local support organisation has celebrated its 10th birthday with help from Newark and Sherwood District Council.

Today the Government has announced that Sherwood will benefit from a £20 million investment as part of its Levelling Up Fund Round 3. For years, the District Council has been working hard, developing exciting regeneration projects for Ollerton and Clipstone. While it has been applying for funding to make these projects a reality, today is the day that marks the official start of this exciting journey for the Sherwood area. 

A Newark and Sherwood District Councillor has been awarded the Community Spirit prize at this year’s Women of the Future Awards. At the ceremony, held in London on 15 November, Councillor Emma Oldham was praised for her commitment to championing the environment throughout her work as Portfolio Holder for Biodiversity and Environmental Services at the District Council and as Communications and Fundraising Manager at Connected Conservation Foundation.

More than 50 businesses joined together at Newark College for the fourth Business Engagement Workshop on Wednesday 8 November organised by Newark and Sherwood District Council.

Following the success of the Community Grant Scheme which has seen local communities benefit across the district, Newark and Sherwood District Council has launched its Community Grant Scheme for 2023/4. The fund of £100,000 is open to groups and charities in the district who can now apply for grants up to £20,000 to help fund projects and schemes in Newark and Sherwood.

On Friday 10 November 2023, Newark and Sherwood District Council hosted a tea party at Newark Town Hall to honour veterans from around the district.

As part of UK Parliament Week, they were visited by the Deputy Leader of Newark and Sherwood District Council, Councillor Rowan Cozens, who spoke about her role in local government as well as that of other representatives at a local and national level and the importance of voting.
