Newark and Sherwood District Council is once again reminding residents how to make sure your Bonfire Night can safely go off with a BANG, and how you can be sustainable as you celebrate!

Since 2017, Newark and Sherwood District Council has built more bungalows than ever before as part of its Housing Revenue Account (HRA) Development Programme.

It’s almost Halloween and Newark and Sherwood District Council is encouraging residents to have a green Halloween and make small but sustainable changes as they celebrate this spooky season.

Newark’s Parish Church will be bathed in the lights and sounds of the forest this November thanks to a stunning co-created project by Newark Creates and Inspire with artists Urban Projections, CJ Mirra and students from Magnus Academy. The remarkable installation, titled Fallen From The Same Tree, will be free to attend between the hours of 5.30pm and 9pm on Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th November.

Newark Castle is taking another step towards opening its gates as a new and improved visitor attraction. At next Tuesday’s Cabinet Meeting, Newark and Sherwood District Council Members will vote on the approval of a delivery funding application to the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The District Council has, this week, vowed to act to protect our waterways and ocean in the fight against climate change and pollution.

Environment Agency are actively monitoring levels on the Trent, and advise it is highly likely that levels will peak and more areas will flood. The timings are not confirmed but are likely to be rising throughout Sunday. If you live in an area which has experienced flooding in the past, or near to areas that have flooded, please prepare. There is a chance that flooding may expand to neighbouring properties which have previously been unaffected.
