To mark her tenure as Chair of Newark and Sherwood District Council, Councillor Jean Hall is embarking on a personal challenge to celebrate our remarkable district.

Newark and Sherwood District Council have given their Community Chest fund a fresh new look and feel relaunching the scheme as the Grant for Local Opportunities and Wellbeing (GLOW). GLOW provides community groups with the opportunity to apply for funding of up to £1,000 to support local projects.

Newark and Sherwood District Council is expected to be allocated a 12-month extension of UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) to continue to support local projects in the area, to March 2026.

Newark and Sherwood District Council has agreed to part-fund an ambitious and exciting new project to create the largest woodland in the area in decades. This initiative will see the planting and maintenance of up to 114,000 trees, transforming the district’s landscape.

Plans for huge CCTV improvements in Newark and Sherwood have now been approved, with a new centralised control room set to be built allowing for better prevention of crime in the area.

Set to launch in March 2025 the Newark and Sherwood Gift Card is designed to encourage people to shop local and support our town centres. Both national and independent businesses of any size will easily be able to accept the card with no additional equipment or cost required.
