With almost 250 photographs from around the district, the judges of the Newark and Sherwood photographic competition are delighted to announce their winners!

A vibrant new chapter in community safety and youth engagement was written at a recent youth-led graffiti project at Coronation Park in Balderton.

The second round of Newark and Sherwood District Council’s 2024-25 Community Grant Scheme has seen 15 local groups benefit from funding, supporting a wide range of community groups across the district. 

Available as either a physical gift card or an e-card, the Newark and Sherwood Gift Card is a local option for gifts, employee rewards and tourism.

Newark and Sherwood District Council serves more than 121,000 residents by providing countless services.  These include collecting bins, looking after lost animals, keeping streets clean, managing parks and open spaces, removing fly-tips, tackling anti-social behaviour, removing graffiti, managing food hygiene ratings on eating premises, running a planning service, investigating planning breaches, investigating noise problems, looking after litter bins, supporting those fleeing domestic violence and those being made homeless, processing benefit payments, administering Central Government business and residential grants when necessary, running business workshops and delivering trade and medical waste collection services. 

Plans for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire will take a step forward from next week, as the nine local councils will come together at their Full Council meetings to discuss progress.

Earlier this week, Newark, including Balderton, was selected by the UK government to develop plans for up to £20 million in funding to help drive growth over a ten-year period, through the announcement of the ‘Plan for Neighbourhoods’ scheme.

Several Newark and Sherwood District Council initiatives to make Newark and Sherwood safer are nearing completion with Councillor Paul Taylor, Portfolio Holder for Public Protection and Community Relations, assuring residents that the work will not stop here.
