Bringing communities together with Winter Wishes

This winter families and friends from across the district will be joining in with the festive celebrations and spending valuable time with their loved ones. For some however, the winter months can feel lonely and to support those who need it most this winter, Newark and Sherwood District Council is launching its Winter Wishes campaign where residents can send warm messages of well wishes anonymously to isolated members of our community.

Palace Presents Unwraps Another Year Of Sharing The Joy

After being blowing away by the generosity of local people for the past three years, the Palace Theatre is delighted to be bringing back its Palace Presents initiative. Scores of people being supported by amazing local charities have woken up to presents on Christmas Day thanks to the scheme and this year the charities involved will include Newark Women’s Aid, Newark Emmaus Trust and YMCA Newark and Sherwood.

Newark and Sherwood District Council awarded accreditation as a carer-friendly employer.

Anyone can find themselves in a position where they become a carer, that is anyone who provides unpaid care by looking after someone who is older, disabled or seriously ill. For some this may also include juggling a career with their responsibilities as a carer. Newark and Sherwood District Council has been working with the Nottinghamshire Carers Association to give employees the re-assurance and support they need if they find themselves in this position and today has achieved an accreditation as a carer-friendly employer.
