Council urges residents to stay safe during widespread flooding

Newark and Sherwood District Council is encouraging residents to stay safe during the severe flooding caused by Storm Henk. It is urging residents not to travel unless absolutely necessary and has set up a place of safety for anyone whose home is flooded or at risk of flooding. Information and advice has been provided in the Breaking News section of its website and support, advice and information are available by calling the District Council on 01636 650000.

Joy shared through Palace gift donations

With the kindness of local people, the Palace Theatre Newark has been able to spread some extra Christmas joy this year. Not just through their spectacular pantomime Snow White, but through Palace Presents, a gift donation scheme initially set up in 2020.

Enhancing our natural environment and inspiring the next generation to share our love of nature is a vital part of creating a greener future for Newark and Sherwood,  and the District Council has committed to do just that with the return of the Free Tree Scheme for a fifth year and a free bird box giveaway to local primary schools as part of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB)’s Big Garden Bird Watch.
