Newark and Sherwood District Council’s cabinet has passed proposals to widen the scope of the Empty Homes Council Tax Premium to include homes left empty for more than 12 months. This premium was originally introduced for homes that had been unoccupied for two or more years, to encourage property owners to empty homes back into use.

Many of you will be aware that the main pool at Southwell Leisure Centre has been closed since the end of October 2023. Understandably, this has been extremely frustrating for people who use the pool and want to see it re-opened as fast as possible.

Newark and Sherwood District Council is continuing to clear and clean up areas affected by Storm Henk. Over the past few days, the District Council’s Environmental Team have been working to clean roads and footpaths of debris following Storm Henk and have been able to tackle the vast majority of areas affected. The waste crews have also been out and collected a number of bins that had to be missed due to the flooding.
