Newark and Sherwood District Council wants to celebrate and promote the benefits of music to the community and is asking local people to get involved and share their passion and ideas. On Tuesday 1 October, the District Council will be hosting its second ‘Alive With Music’ meeting to discuss this and would love to include as many people who are involved with music in the district as possible. The event starts at 6pm and will conclude at 8pm.
As welcoming crowds are expected to line the route of stage 4 of the Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain Men’s Race Newark and Sherwood District Council has issued advance warning of possible traffic delays through the district. Spectators are welcome to come and see stage 4 of the race, which is due to arrive in Blidworth at around 12:25pm. The race will then continue through the district until it arrives at Sconce and Devon Park in Newark at around 2:15pm.

The latest performance report has shown a 12% decrease in Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) across the district compared to the same period last year (1 April to 31 July).

This event offers a valuable chance for young people in years 11-13 to explore a wide range of career paths and educational opportunities available to them after leaving school.

Following feedback from partners and local businesses the Council are partnering with a variety of providers to offer 3 distinct events during September for business based in Newark and Sherwood on the topics in finance, entrepreneurship, and growth.
Robert Kiddey was a sculptor, artist and teacher, born in Nottingham in 1900. His work is visible across Nottinghamshire, including on the Nottingham’s Council House and County Hall. Many of his works depict the working people of Nottinghamshire, including coalminers, metalworkers and agricultural labourers.
Music will enliven summer at Vicar Water on Saturday 7 September. With six musicians located around the park, visitors can walk around and meet them while they play the harp, cello, flute, guitar, saxophone, or percussion.
Newark and Sherwood District Council’s work to decarbonise a number of its buildings powers on as Dukeries Leisure Centre and Sconce and Devon Park are added to its list of sites fitted with solar photovoltaic (PV) panels.
