Work is now underway at Vicar Water Country Park to improve the flow of the river as well as its ecology. Regular visitors to the stunning country park, managed by Newark and Sherwood District Council, may have noticed the works taking place around the river and the signage around them. These are all part of The 3 Rivers Restoration project, a partnership between Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust and Severn Trent.

Following the resounding success of their BookBench Sculpture Trail in Newark town centre, Newark Creates is delighted to announce the permanent locations for these cherished works of art. The trail, which ran from 11 July to 11 September, captivated residents and visitors alike, showcasing the creativity and talent of 11 artists and community groups, in collaboration with Wild in Art.

Newark Market Place will play host to a stunning large scale projected film on Friday 1 November as the Town Hall is illuminated with a fantastic animated tale.

Newark and Sherwood District Council has today launched the second round of its popular Community Grant Scheme, which gives community groups and charities from across the district the chance to apply for up to £20,000 to help deliver projects that will improve the lives of residents.

The Newark and Sherwood Community and Sports Awards 2024, organised by Newark and Sherwood District Council in partnership with Radio Newark, concluded with resounding success on Friday 20 September at The Renaissance at Kelham Hall in Newark. The event honoured incredible individuals who have gone above and beyond to support the community and champion the growth of sports.

At the cabinet meeting held on 24 September 2024, Newark and Sherwood District Council agreed to transfer £59,696.76 to Ollerton Town FC for improvements at the Walesby Lane Sports Ground. The money comes out of the section 106 provision for open space off site sports improvements in Ollerton held by the District Council and formed part of the S106 contributions from Avant Homes on their Wellow Road development.

To assist more disabled residents with essential home modifications and adaptations that improve their quality of life, Newark and Sherwood District Council have raised their Discretionary Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) to £30,000 and their Minor Works Grant to £10,000.

The final phase of the ambitious redevelopment project for Sherwood Avenue Play Park is officially underway.
