As part of their work to help young people access new exciting opportunities, Newark and Sherwood District Council has awarded Volunteer it Yourself (VIY) £60k of UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) to complete two further volunteer skills development projects.

On Monday 13 May, Newark and Sherwood District Council hosted its very first meeting with the sole purpose of celebrating and promoting the benefits music can offer our community. Over 70 people attended and Councillor Rowan Cozens, Deputy Leader of Newark and Sherwood District Council and Portfolio Holder for Heritage, Culture and the Arts chaired this important inaugural meeting. 

Tomorrow, Newark and Sherwood District Council continues its work to create safer communities as it hosts the fourth Anti-Social Behaviour Summit alongside community safety partners from across the district.

Newark and Sherwood District Council is reaching out to residents asking them to help the investigation into multiple incidents of vandalism to Sconce and Devon Park.

Today, Newark and Sherwood District Council received a grant of £1.4million from The National Lottery Heritage Fund for its ambitious plans to create a new and improved visitor attraction at Newark Castle.

A number of Newark and Sherwood’s Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) will come to an end in 2024 and as such, a review of the PSPOs and the related information is being undertaken, and the Council has been reaching out to residents, businesses, partner agencies and wider groups to hear their thoughts.

Community groups and charities across the district can now apply for up to £20,000 to help deliver projects and schemes that improve the lives of residents through the District Council's Community Grant Scheme.

Southwell Leisure Centre is owned by the Southwell Leisure Centre Trust. The District Council took over the management of the Centre in October 2021 because the Trust could not afford to run and maintain it. The centre is over 60 years old, and the main swimming pool had to be closed in October 2023 due to a substantial leakage of water of almost 9,000 litres per day caused by heavily corroded pipework.
