A joint operation to crackdown on illegal waste-carrying vehicles took place last week and found, following on-going efforts from the District Council and partners, a significant reduction of rogue waste operators, illegal scrap services and unroadworthy vehicles.

Newark and Sherwood District Council has introduced a comprehensive package to improve the district’s CCTV with the aim of continuing to drive down rates of anti-social behaviour (ASB) across the district. The latest area to benefit from the upgrade of high-definition CCTV cameras is Cleveland Square, Newark.

In 2023, the District Council approved the introduction of a new kerbside glass recycling service across the district. Since then, preparations have been ongoing to roll out the scheme.

To help make sure no resident is left disadvantaged due to their lack of access to digital infrastructure, Newark and Sherwood District Council has donated 80 laptops to 19 community groups across the district as part of their digital inclusion scheme.

The first installations to improve safety and security in Balderton have been installed through Newark and Sherwood District Council’s Safer Streets 5 partnership with Balderton Parish Council, Nottinghamshire Police and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC).
