No Mow May is back for 2024, and this year the District Council is leaving more areas to grow than ever before!

On 29 October 2023, the main pool at Southwell Leisure Centre was closed. The pool was leaking 9,000 litres of water a day and the safety of users of the pool could not be guaranteed. Southwell Leisure Centre Trust, the owners of the leisure centre, supported the closure of the pool.

Newark and Sherwood District Council have awarded Newark and Sherwood CVS £33k of UK Shared Prosperity Funding (UKSPF) to support and enhance the delivery of their ‘Golden Thread’ project.

Put a spring in your step this May, as The Palace Theatre brings a thrilling line up of artists, singers and comedians to the Newark stage. 

The National Civil War Centre will play host to ‘May the Fourth Be with You’ - a special ‘Family Saturday’ event that promises to be a fun day for all on Saturday 4 May, between 10am and 4pm.

More than 8,000 people visited Newark town centre on Saturday 27 April where it was buzzing with excitement as a whole host of free events took place! Small Business Showcase, the Plastic Ocean Show, Newark Castle Open Day and the Race to the Castle paddleboard competition brought in more visitors than an average Saturday, with 37% of those visiting being new visitors to the town.

Regular guided walks with our fantastic Park Rangers are now being held at our Green Flag Award-winning Sconce and Devon Park and Vicar Water Country Park, and everyone is welcome to join!

Newark is set to hold a very special day filled with excitement and new experiences on Saturday 27 April as another event is announced!

With stand-up comedy, live music, musicals and more, this is The Palace Theatre’s biggest season yet and the new brochure is bursting at the seams with brilliant shows.
