Newark and Sherwood Community Lottery celebrates a £2,000 win! Since launching over £20,450 has been won and almost £62,000 has been raised for the local community.  

Next week Newark and Sherwood District Council will be celebrating the beautiful parks and green spaces we are proud to maintain across the district during Love Parks Week!

Newark and Sherwood District Council has committed an additional £100,000 to Lowdham’s Flood Alleviation Scheme. This brings the District Council’s total amount contributed towards supporting areas of the district prone to severe flooding to £800,000.

Volunteer students at Newark Orchard School have undertaken a community improvement project led by Volunteer it Yourself (VIY) to create a sensory garden.

Newark and Sherwood District Council are again offering a series of one-hour sessions for local businesses who wish to receive free specialist and local support to help them thrive. This is the fourth time the District Council have been able to offer this opportunity to local businesses.

This summer, unique and independent shops from four towns across the district will open their doors for a Happy Families inspired walking trail.

Newark and Sherwood District Council’s Housing Team has worked with Nottinghamshire Police to secure a Closure Order for a council property in Newark following more than a year of Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB).

On 28 July Newark Town centre will once again resonate with the sounds of wheels on tarmac as the elite of British cycling slug it out to determine who will be crowned champion. Following on from the hugely popular event last year, once again the finale of the British Cycling National Circuit Series will use the historic Royal Market as the backdrop for the final races of the season. Last year we saw a massive influx of visitors to the town, with the businesses who supported the event showing increased footfall through the evening.

Local organisations can now apply for a grant thanks to additional funding secured by Newark and Sherwood District Council through the Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF) and a contribution from the District Council’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) allocation.

Newark and Sherwood is home to many fantastic open spaces and parks for residents to enjoy, and the District Council is pleased to announce that it has increased the number of internationally recognised parks within the district, with five local green spaces and parks recognised with the prestigious Green Flag Award.
