Byelaws
We hold a copy of several byelaws. These can either be inspected, or a copy can be made by contacting us.
Acupuncture
This byelaw regulates the practice of Acupuncture throughout the district, the premises on which it is practiced and removal and disposing of waste. It came into force on 6 July 1984.
Cemetery
This byelaw relates to permitting dogs into Lowdham cemetery. It came into force on 22 February 1994.
Food sales in the open air
This byelaw relates to the handling, wrapping, delivery and sale of food in the open air. It came into force on 13 January 1950.
Hackney carriages
This byelaw relates to how the number of the Hackney carriage should be displayed, how the vehicle should be furnished, the conduct of the proprietor or driver and the displaying and fixing of fares. It came into force on 24 May 1999.
Museums and art galleries
This byelaw relates to museums and art galleries in our area and visitor behaviour and conduct. It came into force on 21 March 1969.
Open spaces
This byelaw relates to what a person is not permitted to do in our open spaces. It came into force on 7 October 1965.
Parks and pleasure grounds
This byelaw relates to what a person is not permitted to do in Sconce Hills, Castle Gardens, Devon Park, Friary Gardens, Beaumond Gardens, Fountain Gardens and Sherwood Avenue. It came into force on 7 October 1965.
Prevention of nuisances
This byelaw relates to the prevention of nuisances including noise in our area. It came into force on 18 December 1950.
Protection of Sherwood Heath
This byelaw relates to how we protect the land at Sherwood Heath, Ollerton nature reserve. It came into force on 18 July 1988.
Tattooing
This byelaw relates to the cleanliness of tattoo premises, instruments used and the registered person. It came into force on 6 July 1984.
Unruly behaviour in places of entertainment
This byelaw relates to what constitutes unruly behaviour and the punishment for those committing it. It came into force on 26 July 1965.
Uprooting of ferns, primroses and plants
This byelaw relates to the uprooting of ferns, primroses and plants from public areas. It came into force on 7 May 1968.
Wireless sets, gramophones and similar instruments
This byelaw relates to the use of wireless sets, gramophones and other similar instruments in the Southwell district. It came into force on 8 November 1973.
