The "Come for the... stay for the night" campaign showcases the district's festive events, food and drink experiences, shopping opportunities, entertainment and heritage attractions, inspiring visitors to make the most of the Christmas season with an overnight stay.

Whether it's soaking up the atmosphere at the Newark Christmas Lights Switch On, getting creative at a Seasonal Tablescape Workshop at Norwood Park, or enjoying the sounds of The Christmas Orchestra at St Mary Magdalene Church, there are plenty of festive reasons to visit throughout the season.

Families can enjoy festive fun with Jack and the Beanstalk at the Palace Theatre and The Arrival of Santa at Rufford Abbey Country Park, while those looking for a festive night out can celebrate in style at the Noughties Christmas Party at The Renaissance at Kelham Hall.

For visitors looking to tick off their Christmas list, the district also offers unique shopping experiences, including Southwell Christmas Late Night Shopping and the Indoor Christmas Market at Clipstone Headstocks, where shoppers can browse for unique gifts and enjoy the festive atmosphere.

Food lovers are equally catered for, with experiences including a Festive Wine Tasting at Norwood Park and a Traditional Christmas Lunch at the Renaissance at Kelham Hall, providing the perfect opportunity to relax and indulge in seasonal flavours.

From festive events and seasonal celebrations to great food and drink, family fun, Christmas shopping and fascinating local heritage, the campaign invites visitors to come for the festivities, come for the food, come for the fun, or come for the shopping that make Newark and Sherwood a unique destination at Christmas. Whatever the reason for visiting, the message is simple: come for the experience, stay for the night, and enjoy even more of what the district has to offer this Christmas.

The campaign encourages visitors to make a weekend of it, turning a festive outing into a memorable short break. After a day enjoying Christmas events, seasonal food, festive shopping or family entertainment, visitors can stay overnight in one of the district's hotels, cosy inns, guesthouses or self-catering properties before discovering even more of Newark and Sherwood the following day.

As part of the campaign, visitors can also enter a competition to win a £100 Newark and Sherwood Gift Card to spend during their visit. Entries can be submitted via the campaign page at www.visitnewarkandsherwood.co.uk/christmas.
