Designed to inspire visitors and make planning a trip easier than ever, the new website brings together everything people need to discover Newark and Sherwood, from historic market towns steeped in character to scenic countryside, vibrant events and days out for all ages. Whether it’s a weekend escape, a family adventure or a culture-filled break, the website showcases the very best of what Newark and Sherwood has to offer in one place.

The launch marks a significant step forward in how the district promotes itself to visitors. With a fresh, modern design and improved useability, the website has been built to ensure everyone can easily access information and plan their visit with confidence.

It also provides a powerful platform with more than 100 local businesses already featured, helping connect them with new audiences and encouraging more people to explore, stay longer and spend locally.

At its core, Visit Newark and Sherwood is about telling the story of the place that offers far more than people might expect, from the legendary Sherwood Forest to independent shops, riverside walks and a packed calendar of events. By bringing these experiences together in one easy-to-use platform, the district is inviting visitors to discover something new and start planning their next visit.

Councillor Claire Penny, Portfolio Holder for Sustainable Economic Development at Newark and Sherwood District Council, said: “We’re incredibly proud to introduce a fresh way for people to get to know Newark and Sherwood. This platform really captures the spirit of the area, from its rich stories and beautiful surroundings to the wide range of experiences waiting to be enjoyed. It opens the door for more people to see just how much there is here to discover.

“It’s equally important that this supports the people and businesses who make the district so vibrant. By giving them greater visibility and making it simpler for visitors to find and choose experiences, we’re helping to create meaningful opportunities for growth while celebrating the character that makes Newark and Sherwood so distinctive.”

As the summer season approaches, the website will also play a central role in a wider destination marketing campaign themed ‘Start with the forest. Stay for the…’. Building on the global recognition of Sherwood Forest, the campaign is designed to capture attention and spark curiosity, positioning the iconic landmark as the starting point for a much broader visitor experience.

The campaign will encourage audiences to look beyond the forest and discover the full richness of Newark and Sherwood. From heritage attractions and independent shops to outdoor adventures, local food and a vibrant programme of events, the campaign highlights the many reasons visitors can extend their stay and return time and time again. By linking the campaign closely with the new Visit Newark and Sherwood website, audiences will be able to seamlessly explore ideas, plan itineraries and connect with local businesses.

Councillor Claire Penny continues: “Our summer campaign is all about showcasing the depth and variety of experiences we have here in Newark and Sherwood. Sherwood Forest may be what first captures people’s imagination, but there is so much more waiting to be discovered beyond it. By inviting visitors to start with what they know and stay to uncover something unexpected, we’re not only strengthening our visitor economy but also shining a light on the independent businesses, heritage and landscapes that make our district such a special place.”
